Security forces in Jammu & Kashmir gunned down three militants in Keran sector of Kupwara district foiling an infiltration bid on Saturday night.
"Suspicious movement was noticed by troops near the fencing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector around midnight. The intruders were challenged leading to a gunfight," PTI quoted a senior army official as saying.
The cross-firing between the two sides lasted for around two hours and the bodies of militants were recovered on Sunday morning. Along with the bodies, security personnel recovered ammunitions and grenades from the site.
"We have also recovered three AK rifles, 12 magazines, 300 rounds, two UBGL grenades and other war-like stores from the spot," the official said.
The militants, who were trying to enter the Indian side of the LoC, were noticed when the troops spotted them using night-vision devices.
Earlier, troops had foiled infiltration bid in Tangdhar sector along the LoC in Kupwara district on 25 May, 31 May and 6 June this year.
