The Jammu & Kashmir Police arrested a top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander from Kupwara district on Monday. A gunfight broke out between the militants and security forces after the arrest, according to Indo-Asian News Service.
The LeT commander, Abu Ukasha alias Hanzullah, was arrested around 7 a.m. from Sogam market in Kupwara. According to Zee News, Ukasha is from Pakistan.
The security forces recovered one grenade and about Rs. 38, 000 in cash from Ukasha.
According to reports, encounter between militants and security forces started in a forest area in Sogam in Kupwara district's Lolab valley one hour after the LeT commander's arrest. "Firing is going on," IANS quoted a police officer as saying.
