An army soldier and a militant were reportedly killed in the nine-hour-long gunbattle in Rafiabad area of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday, 2 September.
The slain militant has been identified as Riyaz Ahmad.
Earlier reports had suggested that two militants, Qayoom Najar and Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandoo, belonging to the little-known Lashker-e-Islam (LeI) were hiding inside a house in Ladoora village in Rafiabad.
A search operation was underway and the area has been cordoned off.
In August, four Pakistani terrorists had been killed in a similar encounter in Rafiabad. Another militant--Sajad Ahmed--was captured during the gunbattle.
