Two terrorists were killed when Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid by the Border Action Team of Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri sector on Friday.
"Alert troops foiled a BAT attack on our patrol party in Uri sector today," an army official was quoted by the Press Trust of India (PTI) as saying. He added that the infiltration attempt "effectively repulsed".
An AK 47 rifle, a pistol has been recovered from the deceased BAT attackers. The operation is currently underway.
There are also reports which say that the Border Action Team is a propaganda unit of the Pakistan Armed Forces put in place to carry out cross border operations and raids across the LoC. It consists of commandoes of the Pakistan Army and terrorists and is trained by the Pakistan Army and the Air Force, India Today had reported earlier.
On May 1 this year, the Border Action Team had violated ceasefire along the LoC in the Krishna Ghati sector of the state. It attacked a patrol party of the security forces and also mutilated two Indian soldiers. The Indian Army retaliated by attacking Pakistani military posts along the LoC. However, Pakistan dismissed claims that they violated ceasefire and mutilated the Indian soldiers.
