Two security men were killed and two, including a civilian injured in an encounter between militants and security forces in Tangmarg area of Baramulla district in Jammu & Kashmir on Thursday.
The encounter is underway, according to The Kashmir Monitor. Two militants are said to be trapped inside their hideout.
One of the dead security men was identified as Mohammad Shafi, special police officer of J&K police.
A joint team of the Indian Army and special operations group of J&K police launched an operation on Thursday morning after getting information on the hiding militants inside a house in Hardashuru Sultanpora village in the district.
"The militants opened fire after seeing the security personnel approaching near their hiding enclosure," a senior officer told IANS.
"As the security forces closed on the militants, they started indiscriminate firing at the security forces, triggering a shootout," the officer said.
