If you are an Airtel broadband customer, there's some great news. The national telecom operator is giving "up to 10 percent more data" to its existing customers at same rentals – taking the first competitive step ahead of Reliance Jio's 100Mbps JioFiber rollout pan India.
The new offer is available in Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon and Noida, but you can check exclusive offers in your city on Airtel's official website. Customers need not do anything to get upgraded to the new plan, as it will be done automatically.
Under the revised tariffs, the Rs. 899 monthly rental will offer 60GB high-speed data compared to 30GB earlier and the Rs. 1,099 plan will offer 90GB high-speed data compared to 50GB previously. Both these plans get speeds up to 16Mbps and 40Mbps, respectively.
Airtel's 100Mbps speed plans also get extra data. For Rs. 1,299, customers now get 125GB against the previous 75GB limit, the Rs. 1,499 plan offers 160GB compared to 100GB earlier and the Rs. 1,799 plan subscribers get 220GB data.
"Our new plans are aimed at putting India onto the digital superhighway and complement our superfast broadband offerings like 'V-Fiber'. At Airtel, our mission is to enable a superior digital experience and offer great value to our customers. Our customers can now add to their online experience with exciting speeds backed by unmatched service reliability. We believe these new plans will also drive the adoption of high speed broadband in the country." Hemanth Kumar Guruswamy, CEO – Homes, Bharti Airtel (India), said in a statement.
If you are a new customer and willing to join Airtel's high-speed V-Fiber broadband network, check for availability and apply online. To entice new customers, Airtel is giving free a Wi-Fi router.
JioFiber 100Mbps broadband is underway...
While Airtel is making the first move to disrupt the home broadband market in India, Jio is currently testing its 100Mbps broadband in different parts of the country. As a part of its testing, the new telco is reportedly offering free internet for select customers in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Surat and Vadodara under its "JioFiber Preview Offer."
We won't be surprised if Jio pulls another stunt like the Welcome Offer last September to promote its JioFiber launch. If so, Airtel will have a tough time catching up.
