Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Ahmedabad on Wednesday afternoon, and was received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Hyatt hotel.
Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel received the Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Ahmedabad airport.
In a first, the two leaders signed three key agreements outside Delhi, clearing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the development of industrial parks in Maharashtra and Gujarat for almost $6.8 billion. The business parks are likely to come up in Ahmedabad and Pune.
Another pact was signed between China's Guangdong province and the Gujarat government, while the third MoU was signed between Guangzhou and Ahmedabad cities for cultural exchange.
China is expected to invest billions of dollars in India's railway, manufacturing and infrastructure projects during Xi's visit. His visit to India is the third by any Chinese president.
The two leaders are expected to discuss the burning border issues, with tensions along the LAC reaching new levels over the last few days.
The Chinese president will visit Mahatma Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram and will then attend a private dinner at the Sabarmati riverfront hosted by Modi.
Top industrialists from both the countries are going to take part in the business meet.
