British and US intelligence authorities is said to have identified the Islamic State member, 'Jihadi John', who beheaded two American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff and will reveal the name in a few days.
The man who is seen in the execution videos, beheading the two journalsits, has also threatened to kill a British aid worker. The executioner, 'John,' has been reportedly identified along with two others belonging to the four-member 'Beatles' gang. However, the identity of the fourth member is not known.
"We are near enough certain now as to who this man is but investigators have had to tread softly in charting and approaching his wider network in the UK," Express quoted an unnamed US intelligent source.
"I expect an official announcement disclosing the executioner's identity will be made in the coming days and it is only a matter of time before we locate him," the source added.
They were able to identify the executioner through forensic help using "cutting-edge facial recognition techniques" and by using the masked executioner's eyes, visible in the videos, to establish his facial identity. They reportedly established two versions of his face; one with a moustache and another shaven.
The gang was tracked down and identified by "collating evidence and possibly pin-pointing the target's location in Syria by monitoring phone calls, movements and electronic communication of his network in the UK."
"It has been a co-ordinated effort to track down the support network around the British ISIS executioner," the source said.
