Two policemen were killed and another was injured in a gun battle with Maoist guerrillas in Jharkhand's Godda district on Saturday, police said.
According to police, the encounter took place during a combing operation that was launched based on intelligence input in Sundar Pahari area of Godda district, around 500km from Jharkhand capital Ranchi.
A Maoist guerrilla was also injured in the gunbattle.
Police and the Maoist guerrillas exchanged fire for more than three hours.
Maoist guerrillas are active in 18 of Jharkhand's 22 districts.
