There's little to dislike about Jennifer Lawrence. Her lack of balance may fail her at critical moments, and she may sound rude if a reporter isn't giving her the attention she deserves at the Golden Globes 2016, but J Law isn't afraid to talk about it. If anything, she is bold, charming, unabashed and unapologetic about who she really is.
If you're a J Law fan, like most of the world, you'd know her on-schreen characters are as strong as the Kentucky native. From a fierce fighter to a manipulative wife and a sensitive yet relentless dancer, Jennifer's roles (we think, and more importantly, we hope) mirror many different sides of her personality.
We can't wait to watch her as Fidel Castro's lover Marita Lorenz in her latest movie "Marita". Marita was reportedly hired by the CIA to assassinate Castro. According to Entertainment Weekly, J Law's character claims to have had knowledge of JFK's assassination and even spied for the FBI. This is another addition to the long list of strong female characters the actress has taken on. As an aside, J Law seems to love playing titular characters.
Here are some of her other memorable roles:
Katniss Everdeen, The Hunger Games
Admittedly, this is one of her most famous roles, one that earned her a place in every magazine and the hearts of young teens. Katniss Everdeen, the girl tribute in "The Hunger Games", is skilled in so many tasks that she can be rivalled only by a ninja.
Rosalyn, American Hustle
Anyone who's watched "American Hustle" knows how feisty Jennifer Lawrence can get. The role which won her an Oscar nomination is that of a neurotic and aggressive wife who is quite sadly misunderstood by her family and husband. In the end, the longing for love remains hidden under the aggression she channels at her husband, but he doesn't recognise it.
Tiffany, Silver Linings Playbook
If there was anyone could have successfully fought with Robert DiNiro in "Silver Linings Playbook", it was J Law as Tiffany, the wily widow from down the street. The often-angry-and-moody character is relentless in her pursuit of happiness and positivity, which she enforces on co-star Bradley Cooper's character, whether he likes it or not.
Joy Mangano, Joy
Imagine living with your ex-husband and two children. Put a grandmother and your parents into the mix, and you have Joy Mangano's story. J Law, who plays a young mother, moves from one terrible situation into another until she starts her mop business and becomes a household name.
Ree Dolly, Winter's Bone
This emotional tale about a 17-year-old girl's search for her father takes her into a murky world. Ree has to find her father, else her family could lose the house. Whilst searching for the man who manufactures meth, she gets abused, fears for her life and doesn't know who to trust. Jennifer Lawrence won widespread critical acclaim for her turn as Ree Dolly, one that even got her an Oscar nomination.
