American SUV brand, the Jeep, launched its India website ahead of the launch scheduled in February 2016. The homepage of the website shows 'Coming to India soon' tag. The rest of the pages show the timeline of the iconic models of the brand such as Willys, CJ-5, Wagoneer, Cherokee XJ, Grand Cherokee. The 2016 models include Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee SRT and the Wrangler Unlimited.
"It gives us immense pride to launch this iconic Jeep brand in India. Today, FCA embarks on a new expedition in the Indian market and we hope this significant milestone will help us to firmly establish Jeep in India right from the start," said Kevin Flynn, President and Managing Director, FCA India.
Apart from the website, the social media forum of the Jeep has also become active. The iconic American manufacturer will be showcasing its model line-up for India during the Delhi Auto Expo 2016 from 5 February, 2016.
The company earlier planned to launch the Wrangler, Wrangler Unlimited and Cherokee to the country in 2013. After the feasibility study, the company delayed the launch for the market conditions to improve. It was reported that the deficit in the value of Rupee against Dollar has affected Jeep's plans.
Upon the launch, the Jeep SUVs will be pitted against the SUV's of Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi and Land Rover.
