The period drama, starring Park Bo-gum and Kim Yoo-jung in lead roles, is also known as Love in the Moonlight. It revolves around the life of a young Prince named Lee Yeong, who eventually falls in love with a eunuch named Hong Ra-on. The show airs on KBS2 twice in a week, Mondays and Tusedays, at 10pm KST.
Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo
The Korean mini-series is roughly-based on the historic events of Goryeo Dynasty and the popular Chinese novel Bu Bu Jing Xin by Tong Hua. It follows the life of a 25-year-old lady named Ko Ha-jin, who gets transported back in time and lives as a court lady named Hae Soo. The show, starring Lee Ji-eun aka IU and Lee Joon-gi in lead roles, airs on SBS every Mondays and Tuesdays at 10pm KST.
Drinking Solo
Next in the list is romantic comedy Drinking Solo or Drinking Alone. Those who love a romantic comedy in a campus background will surely love this drama. The show, starring Ha Seok-jin and Park Ha-sun in lead roles, portrays the lives of teachers and students in coaching institute Noryangjin Institute. The show airs on tvN every Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11 pm KST.
Jealousy Incarnate
With double digit television ratings within a few weeks of its release, there is no doubt why the show is among the most popular ongoing period dramas. Set in the background of a media firm, the mini-series revolves around the life of a weather caster named Pyo Na-ri, his former crush and news anchor Lee Hwa-shin and her lover Go Jung-won. The show, starring Gong Hyo-jin, Go Kyung-pyo and Jo Jung-suk in lead roles, airs twice in a week, Wednesdays and Thursdays, on SBS at 10pm KST.
The K2
Unlike the other four period dramas, The K2 is more focused on action-packed sequences that follow the life of a former mercenary soldier turned bodyguard named Kim Je-ha. The show stars Ji Chang-wook and Song Yun-ah in lead roles and it airs on tvN every Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm KST.
