Actress and politician Khushboo on Monday reacted strongly after the Karnataka High Court acquitted former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in the disproportionate assets case.
Objecting to the court's verdict, she took to micro-blogging site Twitter, saying Jayalalithaa had made a mockery of the judiciary even as she refrained from naming the AIADMK supremo.
"1 word- "Acquitted" cnt tke away ur guilt..u mke mockery of judiciary system for 18 long yrs n den u walk free but cn u sleep without guilt?" Khushboo tweeted.
"My biggest worry is ppl will start believing in its fine to do wrong as gods will save us with lavish puja's n superstitious beliefs.." she added.
Jayalalithaa was sentenced to four years in jail and Rs 100 crore fine in disproportionate assets case by a Special Court on 27 September 2014. Following the judgement, she resigned and made her loyalist, O Panneerselvam, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
However, on Monday, the Karnataka High Court overturned the judgement by a Bengaluru special court and acquitted Jayalalithaa. While this verdict has become a major reason of celebration for her party in Tamil Nadu, it has been met with severe criticism by the state opposition and netizens.
