The Chief Justice of India Handyala Lakshminarayanaswamy Dattu has posted the hearing on Jaya's petitions on 17 October.
Citing Supreme Court's firm stance against corruption—"corruption is a violation of human rights"—Karnataka HC had denied bail to AIADMK chief, who was sentenced four year jail term and a fine of ₹100 crore for amassing wealth worth ₹66.65 crore.
Jaya approached the apex court after the Karnataka High Court rejected her bail plea on 7 October, citing that the reasons mentioned in the petitions are not strong enough to release the convict sentenced on corruption charges.
