Much has been written about Jaya Bachchan calling "Happy New Year" a 'nonsensical' film. The issue started at a literature festival when Jaya commented that "HNY is the most nonsensical film".
But she also added that "Happy New Year" is an entertaining film as well.
"HNY is the most nonsensical film I've seen in recent years. I watched it only because Abhishek was part of it. I told him he's a great actor if he can act stupid in front of the camera like that. I can't be part of what is being done in films these days and hence I don't do films anymore," she said during the literature festival.
She also added that she had said that to Shah Rukh Khan, the lead actor of the film. But it was only her nonsensical comment part that went viral and became a controversial topic.
Following that there were reports that her husband Amitabh Bachchan, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and son Abhishek apologised to the Badshah of Bollywood for that comment.
Apparently, Abhishek felt embarrassed because of his mother's comment on his film and the entire "Happy New Year" team was said to be upset because of it, it was reported.
But even after all these reports, there were no official statements either from Shah Rukh or from the Bachchan family.
The reports refused to die down and on Saturday another report infuriated Shah Rukh. The story with title "Shah Rukh Khan does not accept Bachchan's apology for Jaya's harsh comment" irked Shah Rukh, who took to Twitter to slam the media.
The reports said that Abhishek and Aishwarya visited Mannat, but SRK did not meet them so they had to discuss the matter with Gauri Khan.
"SRK's behavior shows that he has not forgiven the Bachchans for Jaya's harsh remark on his film," the leading daily reported.
After reading that report, Shah Rukh said that the news is all made up.
"@abpnewstv: @iamsrk @SrBachchan @juniorbachchan have not read a more crappy, made up piece of journalism lately," he added.
