Jason Day admitted on 6 January that the vertigo that hampered his title hopes at the US Open returned during the British Open at St Andrews. The 27-year-old world number two, speaking ahead of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, described the dizziness during the Open Championship as mild compared to what happened at Chambers Bay.
It came back but I didnt tell anyone about it because it would be a lot more questions that would happen, and it wasnt as severe. I was a little dizzy that day. It happened the Saturday of the Open Championship, Day said.
I just kept my mouth shut about it because I knew that it would open another can of worms and I didnt want to talk about it, he added. Since then, Ive been fine. Ive been making sure that Im staying on top of it and you really cant control it. It will come back whenever it wants to.
The British Open ended with Day finishing one stroke out of three-man playoff won by Zach Johnson. Day, who hasnt played a competitive round since the Presidents Cup, was in good spirits ahead of his pairing with Rickie Fowler on Thursday 7 January at Kapalua Resorts Plantation Course in Hawaii. Day joked about his and his wifes literal run-in with Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James last month.
[The ball] was going to go out of bounds and I was just going to flick it back to someone, then all of a sudden LeBron comes flying in from the side and no one knows what to do and he just jumps, described Day about how James landed in the crowd and collided with his wife, Ellie, during a game on 18 December against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Ellie Day was attended by paramedics at the scene and was immobilised and removed by a stretcher to a local hospital for examination in case of any head or neck injury. She was later released.
