Two passengers have died on a bullet train in Japan after a man set himself on fire.
The Shinkansen bullet train had to make an emergency stop on its journey from Tokyo to the western city of Osaka after a man doused himself in oil and set himself ablaze. Video footage released by Japan News Network (JNN) shows passengers evacuated from the train as the carriage fills with smoke.
Fire department officials confirmed that one man was dead after immolating themselves and spreading the fire. A female passenger on board the bullet train is also thought to have died and two others are injured.
There was no immediate indication of any possible motive for the mans actions. All train services on the route have been suspended.
