'Janatha Garage' total pre-release business: Jr NTR-Mohanlal-Samantha beats 'Srimanthudu,' 'Nannaku Prematho' record

Junior NTR's "Janatha Garage," which is set to hit screens around the world on Sep 1, has earned over Rs 80 crore from the sale of its satellite, music, theatrical rights in its pre-release business.

"Janatha Garage" is an action-drama film, which boasts of the ensemble cast of Junior NTR, Mohanlal, Samantha and Nithya Menen and talented technicians – director and scriptwriter Koratala Siva, Music director Devi Sri Prasad and cinematographer Tirru. The movie has been made simultaneously in Telugu and Malayalam and will be released with the same title on the same date.

All these aspects generated huge hype for "Janatha Garage" and its posters, videos and music garnered lot of attention from the viewers, who are eagerly waiting for the release of the film in theatres. The massive pre-release hype and promotion created lot of demand for its various rights. Several leading distribution houses, TV channels and music labels were in the race to bag the different rights of the movie.

The huge demand led to increase in the price of the rights of "Janatha Garage." Star India has bagged the satellite rights of its Telugu version for a whopping Rs 12.50 crore, while Lahari Music shelled out Rs 80 lakh on its audio rights. Various distribution houses have acquired its global theatrical rights for a whopping Rs. 67.4 crore, which is a record amount for a Junior NTR film.

"Janatha Garage" has reportedly been made with a budget of over Rs 40 crore and the movie has earned a total of Rs. 80.70 crore in its pre-release business. The movie has beaten the record of "Srimanthudu" and "Nannaku Prematho," which was the highest earner for director Koratala Siva and actor Junior NTR with their total business – Rs. 79 crore and Rs 62.50 crore, respectively.
