'Janatha Garage' 2nd day box office collection: Junior NTR, Mohanlal-starrer performs well on its second day

Junior NTR's "Janatha Garage" has crossed Rs. 50-crore mark at the global box office. After registering an earth-shattering opening, the Junior NTR-starrer pulled the audience to theatre in decent numbers on its second day. Hence, the Telugu film has managed to perform well despite Friday, Sept. 2 being a Bharath bandh.

Junior NTR's "Janatha Garage" created a history by becoming the third biggest opener of South India by earning Rs. 41 crore. The bilingual movie is now next only to Rajinikanth's "Kabali" and SS Rajamouli's "Bahubali" aka "Baahubali, " which had collected Rs. 87.5 crore and Rs. 73 crore, respectively.

As per trade expert Andhra Box Office, "Janatha Garage" has crossed the Rs.50-crore mark on its second day as it added over Rs. 15 crore. The significant dip in collections was a natural phenomenon as the first day always had the advantage of special shows. Also, the Bharath bandh factor had some impact on its business. It has to be noted that a section of trade experts had expected the film to cross Rs. 60 crore in two days.

The movie had generated a good pre-release buzz resulting in a fantastic advance booking. This has helped the movie to register a good business in the first two days.

"Janatha Garage" has done well not just in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana but also in neighbouring states like Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Among the overseas centres, it has done good business in the U.S.

The film is made on a budget of over Rs. 40 crore and the makers had earned Rs. 67.50 crore from the sale of worldwide theatrical rights. It has to surpass Rs. 120 crore to be declared hit by the traders.

The film stars Junior NTR, Mohanlal, Samantha and Nithya Menen in the lead roles. Koratala Siva has written and directed the film, which has opened to fairly positive reviews.
