'Janatha Garage' 18-day box office collection: Jr NTR's film beats 3rd weekend record of 'Sarrainodu'

Junior NTR's "Janatha Garage" remained rock-solid at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (AP/T) box office in its third weekend and shattered the record of Allu Arjun's "Sarrainodu" in these areas.

The Koratala Siva-directed film clashed with two new releases - "Nirmala Convent" and "Siddhartha," which forced it out from several cinema halls in both the states in its third week. "Janatha Garage" saw steep decline in its collection on its third Friday and showed little growth on Saturday. The film had good run on Sunday with most of the multiplexes and theatres in cities registering above 85% occupancy.

"Janatha Garage" has collected approximately Rs. 2.33 crore gross at the AP/T box office in its third weekend and its 18-day gross total has reached Rs. 83.73 crore gross in both the Telugu speaking states. In its third weekend, the Junior NTR and Mohanlal-starrer has added Rs. 1.57 crore to its total earnings for the distributors - Rs. 56.36 crore.

"Sarrainodu" collected Rs. 77.90 crore gross at the AP/T box office till its third weekend and its distributors' share stood at Rs 51.35 crore. The Allu Arjun and Rakul Preet Singh-starrer was the highest grossing Telugu film of 2016. Now, "Janatha Garage" has shattered this record to hold the title of the top movie of the year.

"Janatha Garage" has been made with a whopping budget of over Rs. 40 crore by Mythri Movie Makers. The movie fetched Rs. 47.63 crore from the sale of the AP/T theatrical rights. The movie has already recovered 100 percent of the investments of the distributors and earned them Rs. 8.73 crore.
