Pakistani troops violated ceasefire in the Poonch and Rajouri districts of the state on Saturday. This is the third incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistan within 24 hours.
Ceasefire violation in Krishna Ghati and Poonch
The attack on the army's convoy comes after ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in two sectors of Poonch district — Poonch and Krishna Ghati — a defence spokesperson said.
When the Indian Army retaliated, the Pakistani troops opened indiscriminate fire along the LoC in the Poonch sector around 11 pm on Friday, June 2, using small arms, automatic weapons and 82 mm and 120 mm mortars.
A civilian named Shehnaz Akhter was also injured in the firing in the district's Shahpur area. He suffered splinter injuries on one of her legs and was shifted to the district hospital in Poonch. Heavy firing and shelling also reportedly took place in the Kerni, Sauujian and Mendher areas of the district. Firing stopped in Poonch sector at the time of writing this report but is still underway in the Krishna Ghati sector.
