A militant was killed and two Army soldiers were injured in an encounter between the militants and troops of counter insurgency Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in Payerpathi Wanigah forests near the line of control (LoC) in Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday.
"Troops of 41 RR surrounded the forest area following information about a group of militants hiding there," a senior police said. "The security forces were fired upon triggering an encounter in which the militant was killed."
"The operation against the militants was put on hold due to bad light last evening. It has been resumed now."
The police official added that the injured soldiers were airlifted to the Indian Army's base hospital in Srinagar city.
