Three men reportedly hijacked a vehicle close to the Jammu bus stand in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. A high alert has been sounded in the area following the incident.

The police said that the three suspected men hijacked a white Tavera car near Chadwal Morh along the Jammu-Kathua highway at around 2 am on Monday. They tied up driver Kabir Hussain and snatched his mobile phone and money and are believed to have fled to the border areas, India Today reported.

The incident happened when the three suspected men were travelling from Samba to Chadwal. Police posts in the area have been put on high alert and instructed to check the movement of the three suspects.

Reports suggest that the three men were Gujjars from the state's Rajouri district and were speaking the local language. They were seen without any luggage or weapons.

Meanwhile, the Rajouri area of Jammu was also put on high alert after a policeman's AK-47 rifle was stolen.
