James Corden has admitted he was overwhelmed to receive an OBE from Buckingham Palace for his services to drama.
The 36-year-old actor and host of The Late Late Show with James Corden flew back from Los Angeles to receive the honour. Speaking afterwards to ITN, he said he felt both grateful and overwhelmed to receive the award.
Its a little overwhelming really the things that have happened in the past few years. I feel very undeserving, particularly when you hear what some of the people have done and the sacrifices they have made in their lives. You wonder what youve done to be on such a list. But I feel very grateful and overwhelmed that I am here, he said.
Corden rose to fame in the UK after writing and starring in sitcom Gavin and Stacey, but has also won a Tony Award for his performance in One Man, Two Guvnors on Broadway and is now enjoying success as a chat show host. Corden said he was not sure whether he was more of an actor or a presenter, but that he was just grateful to be in the entertainment industry.
I dont know what I see myself as really. To just have a varied career is all I ever wanted. Just to get to perform is all Ive ever wanted to do, he said.
