James Bond Spectre cars go on display in London

Cars from the latest James Bond movie Spectre are to go on display in London, marking the first UK exhibition of vehicles and props from the film. The Cars of Spectre exhibition features James Bonds iconic Aston Martin DB10, as well as a damaged version of villain Mr Hinxs Jaguar C-X75 and Franz Oberhausers Rolls Royce Wraith. Other vehicles include a Land Rover Defender and a stunt Aston Martin-style ejector seat. Founder and CEO of the London Film Museum, Jonathan Sands, explained why the exhibition was the first of its kind.

Its the first time weve been able to have a live exhibition during the theatrical launch of a film, so were hugely excited, he said.

He said that the stand-out piece of the show was Bonds Aston Martin DB10, which was designed specifically for the movie and one of only ten that were made.

Its amazing in the metal, I wont say the flesh Ill say the metal, its such a beautiful iconic design. Weve got the concept art on display from Aston Martin as well and how they actually came to the final piece. Sands said.

But its not only 007s car that stands out; the Jaguar C-X75 driven by the villainous Mr Hinx in a high-speed chase with Bond through the streets of Rome is also on display, albeit a damaged stunt version.

The C-X75 from Jaguar is an amazing looking vehicle. They call it a beast of a car, its huge, and we have got one on display, its going to break peoples hearts, the one that we have got on because everyones expecting this showroom model, but it is a beautiful vehicle. Ultimately it was a hybrid car but they turned it into a petrol car for the film, and the chase sequence in Rome was amazing, said Sands.

The cars from Bonds 24th adventure will be joining the largest official collection of 007 vehicles in the world, which features other iconic motors such as Bonds Aston Martin DB5 from Golden Eye, the Rolls Royce Phantom III from Gold Finger and the Wet Nellie Lotus Esprit S1 from The Spy Who Loved Me.

For me, they [the cars] are one of the stars. They go back to Dr No and the first car chase sequence with the hearse and Sean Connery, you know driving the hearse, chasing the hearse over the edge of the cliff, and theyve become a cornerstone of every single Bond movie since, Sands said.

Bond in Motion - The Cars of Spectre opens at the London Film Museum on 18 November.
