Jalees Sherwani, a veteran screenwriter, lyricist and dialogue writer in Bollywood, passed away on Wednesday. August 1. He was in the hospital for the past few days and is said to have suffered a cardiac arrest. More information on his death is awaited.
Jalees Sherwani had written the dialogues and lyrics for several Bollywood movies for superstar Salman Khan. Some of his recent Salman Khan films that were blockbusters include Yash Raj Films' Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), Arbaaz Khan's Dabangg (2010) and Boney Kapoor's Wanted (2009). His other important films include Baaghi, Sangram and Loafer among others.
The announcement of Jalees Sherwani's death was made at the ongoing 5th Indian Screenwriters Conference (ISC) held in Mumbai's St. Andrews Auditorium. A bigger tribute will be paid to the screenwriter at the conference on Thursday. Jalees Sherwani had also served as the president of the Film Writers Association (FWA) for many years.
