Jaguar Land Rover has opened the bookings for its upcoming 2.0litre diesel variant of Jaguar XE in India. The diesel version of the XE, a luxury compact sedan, will be available for bookings across the 24 authorised Jaguar retailers in the country.
"In the past one year, Jaguar XE has gained immense popularity and success in the Indian market and we are now pleased to offer the choice of diesel to our customers," said Rohit Suri, managing director, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd. (JLRIL).
Jaguar XE, which was brought to India in its petrol avatar last year during the Auto Expo, is currently priced in the range of Rs 39.9 lakh to Rs 47.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The transmission in the diesel is expected to be taken care of by an eight-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.
The current petrol model of the sedan is sold with a 2.0-litre petrol mill that develops 197bhp of power at 5,500rpm and 320Nm of torque at 1,750rpm mated to eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine is also available in 237bhp and 348Nm of torque version.
Jaguar XE goes up against the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Audi A4 sedans in India.
