Tata-owned Jaguar Land Rover has recorded its strongest ever half year sales performance in the first half of the year, retailing 2,40,372 vehicles during January to June 2014.
The company posted 14 percent growth during this period compared to the same period last year. The company said that until now Jaguar has sold 43,587 vehicles, and the June sales alone stood at 7,595 units. Talking of the brand Land Rover, it sold 31,999 vehicles in June, registering 18 percent growth compared to the last year and its six months sales figure records 14 percent rise to 1,96,785.
"It is very encouraging to see both our Jaguar and Land Rover brands delivering such strong performances for the first half of 2014. Range Rover Sport sales are up remarkably since last year and 21 months since it was rolled out, the Range Rover remains strong, with sales performance continuing to grow year-on-year. Our top-selling model, the Range Rover Evoque, also continues to show solid growth. For Jaguar, the F-Type continues to drive sales and raise brand awareness with more customers around the world," said Andy Goss, Jaguar Land Rover Group Sales Operations Director.
The company which is looking forward for sustainable growth and profitability will introduce all-new, technically-advanced aluminium vehicle architecture with the launch of new Jaguar XE premium sedan, which is scheduled to launch in 2015.
The company recently launched its locally assembled XJ in India with a price tag of ₹92.1 lakh, ex-showroom Mumbai. The local assembling of the vehicle has helped the company to cut down its vehicle price in the country to ₹92.1 lakh from ₹1.16 crore.
Offered with premium features like rear seat comfort pack, increased headroom, electric rear side window blinds, LED reading lights, 10.2 inch entertainment screens and a new business table, it measures 5,252 mm in length, 1,457 mm in height and 1,899 mm in width.
The car is powered by a 3.0 litre V6 turbo diesel engine, which can churn out a power of 275 PS at 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 600 Nm at @ 2,000 rpm. The engine comes mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and has a top speed of 250 kph.
