British luxury carmaker Jaguar launched its first crossover SUV, the F-Pace, in India on Thursday at a starting price of Rs 68.40 lakh, ex-showroom in Delhi. The Tata Motors-owned brand has also started the booking process for the SUV via the platform, findmeacar.in, and 23 dealership centres in the country.
The F-Pace will be sold in three variants in India — Pure (Rs 68.40 lakh), Prestige (Rs 74.50 lakh) and R-Sport (Rs 1.02 crore), apart from a limited number of First Edition models, priced at Rs 1.12 crore. The first two variants are powered by a four-cylinder 2.0-litre diesel engine from the Ingenium family that develops 177bhp at 4,000rpm and 430Nm of torque in the range of 1,750rpm to 2,500rpm. The engine will propel F-Pace's Pure and Prestige variants to reach 100kmph speed in 8.7 seconds before reaching the top speed of 208kmph.
The R-Sport and the First Edition are powered by a six-cylinder 3.0-litre diesel engine that develops 296bhp at 4,000rpm and 700Nm of torque at 2,000rpm onwards. The engine powers top variants to zoom past 100kmph in 6.2 seconds and can reach 241kmph. Both the engines are mated to eight-speed automatic transmission and automatic AWD system.
The performance SUV of Jaguar sports a headlamp design inspired from the XE sedan. This adaptive LED headlight features Jaguar's signature 'J' blade daytime running lights, while the tail lamps design is inspired from the F-Type. The new model rides on an aluminium-intensive platform, which makes it lighter in weight. The F-Pace measures 4,731mm in length, 2,175mm in width and 1,652mm in height. It has a 2,874mm wheelbase, and ground clearance of 213mm.
The First Edition is available in Rhodium Silver or Ultimate Black paint shades. This model also flaunts 200-inch Venom alloy wheels with Gloss Black finish. The interiors feature Houndstooth-embossed Windsor leather sports seats, special carpet mats and a Gloss Black trim finish.
Jaguar F-Pace goes up against Porsche Macan, Audi Q5 and BMW X3 in India.
