Sathyaraj and his son Sibiraj's "Jackson Durai" has got a good opening at the Tamil Nadu box office. During its first weekend, the Kollywood film has done a fantastic business.
As per the buzz, "Jackson Durai" has collected Rs. 4.85 crore in three days. "The weekend Box office nos r in.. @Sibi_Sathyaraj 's #JacksonDurai scores a spectacular 4.85 Crs in TN for the Wknd. [sic]" PR Ramesh tweeted. The movie collected over Rs. 2.5 crore on the first day.
The makers of the film have promoted the film well and this helped the movie do good business. However, "Jackson Durai" has opened to mixed reviews and the movie is now heavily banking on the good word-of-mouth. It has to do well for at least a week in order to rake in profits.
In Chennai, the Tamil flick has raked in Rs. 77.34 lakh from 225 shows. But "Jackson Durai" might be affected by Salman Khan's "Sultan," which is releasing big in the capital city of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, July 5.
"#Sultan releasing worldwide -July 6 for EID. 66 screens in TN. Awesome advance booking at @SPIcinemas - 15270 tickets sold till 3 pm today. [sic]" journalist Sreedhar Pillai tweeted.
"Jackson Durai," which was released in around 300 screens, is not eligible for 30 percent entertainment tax exemption given by the Tamil Nadu government as it has got a 'U/A' certificate by the regional censor board. The state government provides 30 percent exemption only to the films which get a 'U' certificate.
Dharani Dharan's "Jackson Durai" is a horror-comedy movie.
