The first official stills for Tom Cruise's upcoming action film, "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back," have been released online, and show the film's two leads, played by Cruise and Cobie Smulders, in a vibrant New Orleans setting.
Not much is known about the plot of the film but it is expected to be an adaptation of Lee Child's well-received 2013 novel of the same. In a recent interview with People magazine, the film's director Ed Zwick spoke about reuniting with Cruise 13 years after their last collaboration, "The Last Samurai."
"I've never seen anybody more prepared both physically and mentally than Tom. He's tireless and unbelievably focused," said Zwick, adding that fans of the star will see plenty of stunts in the film performed by Cruise himself.
"It's a pretty boring job to be Tom's stunt double. He did all of his own stunts. It's almost a hallmark of what he does. He does every bit of it himself."
ComicBookMovie speculates that we should probably expect a trailer relatively soon, "possibly attached to Paramount's big summer release, 'Star Trek Beyond'."
"Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" opens in theatres on Oct. 21, 2016.
