Ivanka Trump released her new book Women Who Work on May 2 and it hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. It did not just fail to impress readers, but also garnered harsh reviews from critics.
The book garnered an average of 1.2 stars on an online store of the largest American bookseller Barnes and Noble. It also received very low ratings on Amazon, as over 50 percent of the buyers gave it only one star.
Meanwhile, the book has also garnered negative reviews from many critics. While The New York Times described it as "Witerlessly derivative," The Independent stated, "Ivanka Trump's new book is bad. Also, water is wet" and The Huffington Post wrote, "A grab-bag of generic work-life advice."

But Women Who Work is not the only book written by a celebrity that sparked controversy due to its content. Here are three other controversial books of all-time:
The Kind Mama by Alicia Silverstone
The book, which was released on April 15, 2014, received very low ratings from readers. It garnered only two stars on Amazon and received harsh reviewers from buyers. The prime reason for sparking controversy was its sub-title, which read: "A Simple Guide to Supercharged Fertility, a Radiant Pregnancy, A Sweeter Birth, and a Healthier, More Beautiful Beginning."
"So, you're a celebrity who just a book deal. Is it time to do research? Nah, just blather whatever new age nonsense pops into your head and cash those checks. Congrats! You're a moron," wrote a reader on Amazon.
Knockout by Suzanne Somers
The book, which was released on October 20, 2009, received negative reviews from critics for misleading readers with all the wrong information about science and medicine.
"It's the book every medical writer in the country wants to ignore," stated News Week quoting American Cancer Society's chief medical officer Dr. Otis Brawley. According to him, the basic problem with Knockout: Interviews with Doctors Who Are Curing Cancer – And How to Prevent Getting It in the First Place is that it's really inaccurate when it describes the science behind current treatments and lacks a basic understanding of the scientific method.
Rebels: City Of Indra by Kylie and Kendall Jenner
The fantasy novel was released on June 3, 2014, in association with ghostwriter Maya Sloan. It is one of the few books by celebrities that received criticism from both readers and critics.
"Honestly the writing style was something from an eighth grade level point, tone was dry and boring. A WASTE OF TIME!" wrote one of the readers, as the next one stated, "This just seems like another money making scheme created by Kris Jenner. Don't waste your time or money."
