Noida-based company Ringing Bells recently launched the most affordable touchscreen handset — Freedom 251 — in India for Rs 251, making it the world's cheapest 3G smart-phone. Seems like the company is having a "tight competitor" in the field with a smart-phone available at Rs 651 that will be "delivered by June 30, 2026, to the doorstep by drones."
At the first look, the website Freedom651.com, owned by Doesn't Ring a Bell Pvt. Ltd., looks very similar to Freedom 251's web-page. But only on close observation you will realise it as a spoof website taking a dig at the makers of the cheapest smart-phone. Instead of "Buy Now," you will see "Don't Buy Now."
The Freedom 651 is said to be made of components found only on Mars and the company has even tied up with Standard Fireworks in Sivakasi, which will make 20 million rockets to go to Mars. "Human beings are expected to reach Mars by 2025. So, once humans are there, we will get all the materials for making this phone," as written on the website.
The features of the "new smart-phone," including freedom to shoot, connect, explore and disconnect, are also well described. Interestingly, the "Contact Us" session will ask the users for their great grandfather's name, state of mind and even neighbour's phone number.
"This site is intended for fun only. This doesn't sell mobile phones nor collect your credit card or visiting card information. If you have concerns regarding the content, please leave a message on the FB page," reads the disclaimer of the spoof website.
