Swedish car-maker Volvo will pull the wraps off its much-awaited hatchback V40 in India on Wednesday, 17 June.
The Volvo V40 will bear styling changes in the front and rear profiles of the model from its bigger sibling. Under the hood, Volvo V40 hatch is expected to pack the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which can generate 185PS of power and 240Nm peak torque and T5 five-cylinder engine that can churn out 148 bhp power and 35.7kgm at 350Nm torque. For transmission, both the engines are likely to come mated to six-speed automatic gearbox.
Inside the cabin too, the Volvo hatchback is expected to have the same styling of its V40 Cross Country with features like climate control system, auto bending headlights, panoramic roof and Adaptive Digital Display Console.
The hatchback is likely to be offered in front wheel drive D3 variant and T4 petrol variants. Once the new Volvo V40 hits Indian market, the car will take on the likes of BMW 1 Series and Mercedes-Benz B-Class. To be brought to India as CBU (completely break-down unit) route, Volvo V40 hatchback is expected to get a price tag in the range of ₹22-25 lakh.
