Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi is set to play the role of Narendra Modi in his biopic titled PM Narendra Modi, which is directed by Omung Kumar and produced by Sandip Ssingh.
It is season of biopics in Indian cinema! The country has witnessed some biographical movies in the recent years, but coming months it is going to be a rain of biopics most of which will be based on various political leaders like NTR, YSR, Thackeray and Manmohan Singh. The biographical movie on the life of Narendra Modi will be one among them.
The biopic on the life of Narendra Modi was announced four years ago and Paresh Rawal was roped in to play the role of the Indian Prime Minister. But the senior Bollywood actor has reportedly walked out of this project, due to some unknown reasons. The makers have now brought Vivek Oberoi on board.
Taran Adarsh confirmed the news about Vivek Oberoi essaying the role of Narendra Modi. The noted film critic tweeted, "IT'S OFFICIAL... Vivekanand Oberoi [Vivek Oberoi] to star in Narendra Modi biopic, titled #PMNarendraModi... Directed by Omung Kumar... Produced by Sandip Ssingh... First look poster will be launched on 7 Jan 2019... Filming starts mid-Jan 2019."
"From running a tea stall to working in the staff canteen of Gujarat Road Transport Corporation, taking a plunge into politics, becoming Gujarat's chief minister and then the prime minister, the film tells the story of his rags to riches. It goes on floors around mid-January 2019 and is planned to be shot extensively in Gujarat," a movie portal quoted a source as saying.
Vivek Oberoi is currently preparing for his role in the biopic. The source said, "The preparation had started two months back, the look test and all have already been done. Vivek has also been undergoing extensive research in order to get into the skin of the character. He is observing Modi's ideologies and all the nuances so he could pull off the character accurately."
The makers have planned to release PM Narendra Modi in the theatres before the upcoming parliament elections. The source added, "The film is apparently being mounted on a high budget. The makers plan to make the film a mix of fact and fiction and present it as a commercial biopic. They are planning to shoot it in a start-to-finish schedule and release before 2019 Lok Sabha election."
However, PM Narendra Modi is undoubtedly the most awaited movie of the decade and the wait has already begun. A moviegoer named B Rohith Kumar tweeted, "Sir @vivekoberoi best of luck for the Narendra Modi biopic , nation is awaiting for your movie, hope you impresses us, bring it on sir #PMNarendraModi #ModiOnceMore."
