French auto-maker Renault has confirmed that the company's new compact hatch will be globally unveiled on 20 May in Chennai in India.
Renault's new small car, codenamed XBA, will be unveiled by Renault Group Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn. Renault XBA aka Kayuo, a model based on CMF-A (Common Module Family – Affordable), is expected to be priced around ₹3 lakh in India. It is likely to be available in four variants.
To be produced at Renault-Nissan Oragadam Plant in Chennai, the model that is targeting the small-car market of India will be pitched against Maruti Suzuki Alto and Hyundai Eon.
Under the hood, Renault's small car is expected to pack 800cc petrol engine. A recent report had said that Renault's XBA is likely to be the first model of company to get AMT option in the country.
Although the XBA was caught on camera while undergoing its test runs in the country, the key details of the model are scanty. From what we have seen so far, the model is likely to get single wiper blade for front windshield and outdated rear-view mirrors.
