It's Official: Next Gen Hyundai i20 Christened Elite i20, Bookings Open in India; Launch, Price Details

It's official now. The new generation i20 will be called Elite i20 in India. The Korean auto maker has released the first sketch images of the next generation i20 on the company's India website along with its name Elite i20.

Hyundai also revealed that the much-anticipated new i20 will become official in India on 11 August and the booking will commence from Friday, 1 August.

A Rushlane report confirmed that The Hyundai dealers have started accepting the booking for new Elite i20 with an advance payment of 50,000, which is 100 percent refundable in case the customers decides not to buy one after the company reveals the price of the car during the launch.

However, the pricings of the new Elite i20 is not confirmed in the domestic market. It is expected to fall in the price range of ₹9 lakh-₹10 lakh.

Inspired by "Fluidic Sculpture 2.0" design philosophy, Elite i20 has been styled at Hyundai Motor's Design Centre Europe and it has received a unique treatment to appeal the auto world.

The car, which has been spied in the country numerous times with the latest one being the undisguised is likely to feature some elements of Grand i10, including the hexagonal air-dam element and flared head lamps. The wrap-around tail lamps seen in the previous spy shots is likely to give the car a premium look.

The vehicle in question is likely to get its power from same 1.4-litre diesel and 1.2-litre Kappa2 engines of its current model, which is likely to come mated to either a five-speed or a six-speed manual transmission in India. While the petrol engine is expected to churn out 83 bhp of power and 113 Nm of peak torque, the diesel engine might give 89 bhp of power and 219 Nm of torque.

From the spy shots we have seen so far, the new Elite i20 is expected to get features like climate control, keyless entry, steering-mounted audio controls, reverse camera, parking sensors and automatic day/night interior mirror.

In India, the Elite i20 will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Fiat Punto, Tata Bolt, Toyota Etios Liva and Ford Figo.
