The wait for Honda Mobilio, the company's first MPV offering in the country, which is one of the most anticipated and desired car launch of this year is finally going to end now. The auto enthusiasts in India who have been waiting patiently to steer the wheels of Mobilio can now rush to any of the Honda dealers to book your Mobilio as the company has confirmed the launch officially. The company has also commenced the booking for Mobilio with a token amount of ₹50,000 and the delivery of the vehicle is likely to be varied depending upon the variant of the Mobilio.
Underpinning Honda's popular Brio hatchback, Mobilio was first seen at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014. The car which recently made its debut in Indonesia will be offered in both petrol and diesel engines in India. Under the skin, the petrol Mobilio will pack 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol motor, which can churn out a power of 117 bhp, and the diesel variant will come with 98 bhp, 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit, which powers Honda's popular City and Amaze. The engine will come mated to a five-speed manual and CVT gearbox. With the launch of Mobilio, the company's first MPV will also become the country's most fuel-efficient vehicle in this segment. While the diesel model of MPV Mobilio is expected to deliver 26 kmpl, the petrol version is likely to give 18 kmpl.
Seated on a wheel base of 2,650 mm, Mobilio measures 4,390 mm in length, 1,680 mm in width, 1,610 mm in height. The vehicle, which is expected to fall in the ₹6 lakh to ₹8.50 lakh (ex-showroom) price range will challenge the current front runners like Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia in the country.
Recent reports suggested that the Mobilio production has begun at the company's manufacturing unit in Greater Noida. Mobilio's sporty variant, Mobilio RS will also be coming to India soon, probably by September. It features new sporty front and rear bumper along with LED projector headlamps and chrome finishing fog lamps in Indonesia, where the vehicle is on sale already. In addition to this, the RS variant of Mobilio is also upgraded with aero-dynamic kit, roof-mounted spoiler and 15-inch alloy wheels.
