The Espanola police station in New Mexico has alarms designed to keep the intruders away, but it did not sound alert when a human-shaped figure trespassed through the gates.
Last weekend, Officer Karl Romero was on duty at night and was keeping an eye around the station through the security cameras. Suddenly he saw a blurry human-shaped figure walking out slowly, the Huffington Post reported.
"At first I thought it was a podilla – a fly or moth – then I saw the legs... and it was a human," he told KOAT TV. "But not a real human. No, a ghost."
The officer then reported the freaky incident to his superiors.
Detective Solomon Romero agreed that it could be a ghost and admitted that he do believe in such things. "It walks through the old transport cages, there's not a way for it to get through, but it walks through that," ABC News quoted the detective as saying.
It further reports that the other officers say that they have heard and seen the ghost around the station for years, but never got recorded on camera. They also clarified that the station is not built on any ancient burial nor anybody died inside the building.
"A lot of officers have seen certain things," said Karl Romero.
"Some officers have felt someone breathing down their necks as they're working in the briefing room."
