Vishal Krishna watched "Tharai Thappattai" at a special screening recently, and has heaped praise on the movie and lauded the performance of Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar.
The special screening was organised by the makers of the film for Tamil celebrities a few days ago. After watching the Tamil film, Vishal had only good words about "Tharai Thappattai". The actor claimed he was impressed by the content and liked the way Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar pulled off the tough role.
This might seem odd, as Vishal has been at the loggerheads with Varalaxmi's father Sarath Kumar for a few years now.
Vishal and Sarath Kumar have been having issues pertaining to Nadigar Sangam and this had forced the "Pandiya Naadu" star to take on the veteran actor during the actors' guild elections last October. It has to be noted that their differences have not been solved yet.
But it did not stop him from watching Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar's movie and praising her.
"Tharai Thappattai" stars Sasikumar and Varalaxmi. The story is set in the backdrop of karakattam. The movie is written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Bala. It released on 14 January for Pongal. Three other films — Udhayanidhi Stalin-starrer "Gethu", Sivakarthikeyan's "Rajini Murugan" and Vishal's "Kathakali" — had hit the screens along with it.
Of all the four films, "Rajini Murugan" has emerged victorious at the box office. In the opening weekend, the film collected Rs 19.25 crore in Tamil Nadu.
