Indian Super League side Kerala Blasters have finally made their statement signing ahead of the ISL 2016. Northern Ireland utility player Aaron Hughes, who recently earned his 103rd cap for the country, after playing three games in Euro 2016, joins the Sachin Tendulkar co-owned side as their marquee player.
Hughes who mainly plays as a defender, has made a whopping 455 Premier League appearances so far, while playing for Newcastle United, Fulham and Aston Villa. The 36-year-old also helped Fulham to the final of the UEFA Europa League in the 2009-10 season.
Northern Ireland made it to the round of 16 of Euro 2016 earlier this month, much to their credit. However, they couldn't progress further in the competition after suffering a defeat at the hands of Wales.
Hughes, who last played club football for A-League side Melbourne City, played as a right-back for the entire 90 minutes in three matches for Northern Ireland -- against Ukraine, Germany and Wales in Euro 2016.
