Gianluca Zambrotta, the FIFA World Cup winner with Italy in 2006 and one of the most feared right backs of his time, is appointed the Delhi Dynamos coach ahead of ISL 2016. The Juventus veteran replaces Roberto Carlos, who was the head coach of the Indian Super League side last season.
Zambrotta, 39, was the head coach of Swiss side Chiasso between 2013 and 2015.
According to Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italy veteran has agreed to a four-month deal with Delhi Dynamos from September through December, and Zambrotta is set to bring in his former national teammate Simone Barone as his assistant in the ISL side.
Zambrotta won a total of three Serie A titles in his playing career — two with Juventus and one with AC Milan. He also appeared for Barcelona between 2006 and 2008 and bagged a Spanish Super Cup.
The Indian Super League side is likely to make the announcement official in a few days' time.
