Former Chelsea veteran Florent Malouda has been named as the marquee player for Delhi Dynamos ahead of Indian Super League 2016. The French winger will now play for the second year in a row.

Malouda, 36, was with the Delhi-based ISL side last year as well, but not as the marquee player. The Dynamos' marquee player for ISL 2015, Nicolas Anelka, is yet to confirm whether he will be playing the third season of the Indian football competition. In all probability however, it looks like he is not set for a return.
The ISL side based in Delhi, therefore, has taken the decision of naming Malouda, who fulfils all the criteria of a marquee player in the ISL. The four-time Ligue 1 winner with Lyon and a former UEFA Champions League winner with Chelsea appeared in 16 matches in the ISL last season and assisted in as many as eight goals.
"I am very excited to be back in India. It was a wonderful experience for me to play in the league last year and enjoyed it a lot. It was for the first time that I played outside Europe and to be honest I enjoyed it a lot," Malouda said.
"We had a very good squad last season and it was sad that we had to bow out of the tournament in the semis. It's a different squad this year, I hope that we can build on what we achieved last season and together aim to lift the trophy this season," he added.
ISL 2016 is scheduled to get underway on October 1, but Delhi Dynamos start their campaign only on Oct. 6, when they take on defending champions Chennaiyin FC at Marina Arena.
