Atletico de Kolkata have already qualified for the semi finals of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2015, but their star forward Iain Hume is still relentless. He wants to finish the league stage with a win over Mumbai City FC and is hungry for more goals.
"It's nice to have secured our place, but we've got a big game coming up against Mumbai. After our last encounter, they will want to come here and set things right. So we can't just rest on our laurels," Hume was quoted as saying by the official ISL website. "We've got to approach Mumbai the same way as we've approached other teams. So we've got to stay level-headed and work towards the semi-finals."
Hume, who has already scored a couple of hat-tricks for his side, powered the defending champions to the semi finals of the ISL 2015 after an outstanding performance against FC Goa in their last fixture.
"Fortuitous! The lads put two tap-ins for me. There have been many games where I have done everything right, but I haven't scored. The team's worked hard, and so have I," Hume added.
Atletico de Kolkata are sitting comfortable at the top of the ISL 2015 points table with 23 points in 13 games. Their final clash will be against Mumbai City FC, and the visitors will be desperate to beat the defending champions at the latters' backyard. Hume wants to emulate his performance against Mumbai City FC from the last time these two sides met, at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai earlier in the season. Hume scored his first hat-trick of ISL 2015 in that match.
Hume also heaped praise on young Sameehg Doutie, who has already turned out to be a sensation and a constant threat for the opposition teams. Doutie has fed Hume a number of delicious crosses from which the Canadian has scored.
"It's a massive bonus when you have someone like Doutie have your back, who's relentlessly been a trouble for opponents. He's good, took some time to get back into the squad and now he's claimed it deservingly. It's been a treat to be at the end of his crosses," said Hume.
