Islamic State militants have reportedly been found using images taken from Hungarian porn film to portray abuse of Sunni Muslims.
Several social media accounts claiming affiliation with ISIS recently posted a propaganda poster proclaiming that "Islamic State is the sole saviour of millions of Sunni Muslims against Iraqi-Syria army butchers."
One photograph displayed on the poster showed men in military uniforms sexually abusing a woman purportedly shown to be a Sunni Muslim. The caption read: "No more watching brothers dies, no more watching sister cry..."
However, US State Department-run Twitter account has condemned the use of what it says is a "photo taken from Hungarian porn" to "trick" people in to following Islamic State's "lost cause".
The US State Department-run Twitter account, Think Again Turn Away, revealed that the picture showing a woman being raped by men in army fatigues were misappropriated from a Hungarian porn film.
While it may appear funny to some that the US State Department seems to have an eagle's eye in spotting image from the Hungarian porn film, experts believe that the Department is using image recognition softwares to scan and weed out images on social media.
Think Again Turn Away was launched in 2010 by The Centre for Strategic Counter-terrorism Communications led by Alberto Fernandez to counter propaganda videos and pictures released by terrorist groups like al Qaeda and now the ISIS.
"Our mission is to expose the facts about terrorists and their propaganda. Don't be misled by those who break up families and destroy their true heritage," Think Again Turn Away Facebook page states.
