The Kerala police on Thursday registered an FIR against Kozhikode native Riyadul Rahman, who had earlier absconded from Ras al-Khaimah in UAE, according to some reports.
Police reportedly got a tip-off from two people, who were detained and interrogated by the Kerala police's special branch and Intelligence Bureau on Tuesday at Kozhikode airport after being deported from Abu Dhabi over alleged links with the Islamic State (Isis).
Two others were also detained at Thiruvananthapuram airport on the same day.
The Isis is suspected to reach out to Kerala youths through social media in the northern districts of the state, reports said.
Earlier, the state police had launched a probe into an alleged bid to recruit a youth from Kochi into the Islamic State through social media. He was reportedly added to a WhatsApp group, "Dawat ul Islam Dawah", after which he started receiving messages in the name of the terrorist outfit since Friday.
Later, the youth removed himself from the group upon receiving an Arabic voice message and photo of an Isis flag. He took screen-shots of the messages as evidence and filed a police complaint.
