The Islamic State has unleashed a horrific wave of execution of educated women, the United Nations has warned, citing that the terror group has already executed three female lawyers this month.
ISIS is showing a "monstrous disregard for human life", the UN human rights office said on Tuesday.
"Educated, professional women, particularly women who have run as candidates in elections for public office, seem to be particularly at risk," said spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani, AFP reported.
The UN official said that ISIS has executed at least three female lawyers in the first two weeks of the new year. Last week, the group also stoned a woman to death on charges of adultery.
The ruthless terror outfit is known for its brutal style of executions, which include beheading, stoning, crucifixion, and more recently, even throwing people off high-rise towers.
The group has also not spared women and children from its horrific crimes, and recent reports suggest that ISIS executed 13 teenaged boys for watching a football match, while it threw men they suspected of being homosexual off the rooftop of a tower in Mosul.
