When one of your good friends is getting engaged or tying the knot, you just cannot stop yourself for pulling their leg, just for the sake of fun. India pacer Ishant Sharma just found himself at the receiving end of a witty congratulatory message from good friend and national teammate Rohit Sharma following his engagement.
The lanky pacer, who is a part of the India squad for their four-match Test series scheduled to start in July, got engaged to long-time love Pratima Singh, a player for the India women's basketball team, in New Delhi on Sunday. Amid several congratulatory messages, Rohit's turned out to be one of the best.
Rohit, who married long-time girlfriend Ritika Sajdeh in December, stated that Ishant, 27, should have at least chopped his trademark long locks ahead of the big day.
"Welcome to the club Ishant congratulations you two [sic]," wrote Rohit Sharma on Twitter. "Lekin aaj ke din toh baal katva leta bhai (you could have chopped off your locks for today's occasion)."
Ishant and Rohit are not the only Indian cricketers to have joined the club of the engaged-married players in recent times. Experienced southpaw Yuvraj Singh also got engaged to model-turned-actress Hazel Keech in November last year. Hazel is best known for featuring alongside Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the Bollywood film, 'Bodyguard.'
India spinner Harbhajan Singh also tied the knot with Bollywood actress Geeta Basra last November.
