With less than a week before the launch of the next-generation Canvas 4, a report has emerged that the Micromax handset might be a rebranded version of a China-made smartphone called BLU Life One.
Technology website BGR citing an anonymous tipster has claimed that the popular indigenous smartphone maker has joined hands with Chinese OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) BLU to launch the latter's flagship handset 'Life One' with a rebadged moniker 'Canvas 4' into the Indian market.
The rumoured specs as well as the snapshots of Canvas 4 are strikingly identical to the Aluminum-clad BLU Life One smartphone which was unveiled in March this year.
A couple of days ago, another website AndroidOS.in had leaked the purported specs of Canvas 4. It said the Micromax phone would sport a 5.0-inch IPS HD 720p display powered by a 1.2GHz MediaTek MT6589 quad-core processor, very much similar to its predecessor - A116 Canvas HD.
The website also revealed that new phone would ship with Android v4.2.2 out-of-the-box and house a 13.0-megapaixel main camera and a 5.0-megapixel secondary snapper on the front.
However, the new teaser image released by Micromax hints that Canvas 4 might sport a full HD 1080p display which questions the authenticity of the above report. Hence, readers are advised to take the report with a grain of salt until Micromax opens up to the media to clear the air over the speculations.
Micromax had received more than 4081 registrations for 'Canvas 4' within seven hours on the opening day (28 June) of pre-booking. It's a tremendous achievement considering the fact that the company is levying ₹5,000 as advance amount without revealing the specifications and final price.
