Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma is strumming up her chords daringly as she is set for a faceoff with Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor later this year.
The bubbly actress as reported earlier has turned as a producer with her women-centric film "NH10," which will also feature her as the central protagonist. Sharma's big move as producer has also been backed by director Anurag Kashyap's Phantom films and Eros International.
But now, the actress has taken it upon herself to dare her male co-stars, Ranbir of "Bombay Velvet" and Shahid of "Badmash Company", to the game of box office fight.
Sharma's "NH10" has audaciously been set for 12 September release date along with Ranbir's "Roy" and Shahid-Vishal Bhardwaj team's "Haider."
"Since Anushka is the producer of "NH10," her call on the release date is final. Even though the makers of "Haider" and "Roy" confirmed 12 September as their date of arrival, "NH10" went ahead and booked the same slot. There won't be any change in plans," a source told Deccan Chronicle.
Even Eros International is said to have backed the actress's decision on releasing "NH10" in the same date along with "Roy" and "Haider."
The women-centric film based on a road trip has been directed by Navdeep Singh of "Manorama Six Feet Under" fame.
Bollywood in recent years has seen an increasing trend of women-related films, but the slotting of "NH10" along with prominent male starring films is undoubtedly a risky bet.
In the first segment of 2014, even though the women-centric films like "Dedh Ishqiya", "Gulaab Gang", "Highway", "Queen" and the restrictive screened "Lakshmi" have found release, only the Kangana Ranaut starrer emerged as a clear box office winner.
Hence, it remains to be seen whether Sharma's ambitious "NH10" manages to give its competitors a tough fight at the box office this September.
